The management at Dechert announced their lawyers and staff members can go for jeans any working days of the week.
This big firm is going business casual according to their chief talent officer, Alison Bernard, who confirmed it on the Recorder. Before, some Dechert offices allowed jeans but was not a whole corporation wide thing.
However, attorneys still must wear business attire in court and in other formals meetings that demands the business look. Also, if they must get into a meeting all of a sudden Dechert provides garment bags for them.
Darin Morgan who is a partner of Major, Lindsey & Africa’s office said this also was good for the business because it appeals to millennials.
Recently other law firms are also following this phenomenon. We found stories dating back to 2011 when a Careerist encountered an associate at Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan wearing shorts.
