Cadillac is expanding the availability of Super Cruise™1 to an additional 70,000 miles of compatible, divided highways in the United States and Canada. This expansion will make the industry’s first true hands-free driver assistance feature available on more than 200,000 total miles of compatible highways by the fourth quarter of 2019.
To date, Super Cruise has been available on more than 130,000 miles of limited-access freeways. The expansion builds on Super Cruise’s unique combination of precision LiDAR map data, high-precision GPS, a state-of-the-art Driver Attention System and a network of camera and radar sensors. Some of the divided highways added will include limited intersections and traffic control devices. In the cases of railroad crossings, pedestrian crossings, stoplights or stop signs, Super Cruise will alert drivers to take back control of the vehicle. As always, it remains important for drivers to stay engaged and vigilant at all times while Super Cruise is engaged.
To enable the expanded functionality, an enhancement to the Super Cruise system will be available to 2018 and 2019 model year Cadillac CT6 owners through their Cadillac dealer. Following the completion of the system enhancement, the new, additional map miles will be sent to customer vehicles over the air throughout the summer and fall.
In addition to the mileage expansion, the software update will also include performance improvements, enhancements to increase Super Cruise availability and enhancements to the Driver Attention System.
“We are constantly working to make Super Cruise the most beneficial system for our customers,” said Mario Maiorana, Super Cruise chief engineer. “Expanding our offering of compatible highways will allow people the ease and convenience of traveling hands-free more often.”
Last year, Cadillac made updates to its Super Cruise driver assistance feature based on customer feedback, including making Super Cruise activation easier for the driver and adding dynamic lane offset so that a CT6 with Super Cruise activated can adjust slightly over in its lane for driver comfort when passing large vehicles. Gauge cluster messages were also added, to inform drivers why Super Cruise may be not be available in certain instances.
Customers have traveled 2.5 million miles using Super Cruise since its launch. Super Cruise is currently available on the 2018 and 2019 model year Cadillac CT6 and will be available on the 2020 model year CT6 later this year. Super Cruise will be available on Cadillac’s all-new CT5 sedan next year.

Get Your Luxury Ride On with a Cadillac
Cadillacs are the premiere luxury vehicle, synonymous with style and class. It is produced by General Motors, and is one of the most sought after luxury cars in the United States. As proof, you only have to look at the many Hollywood stars that wouldn’t be caught dead without their Cadillac! This famous car is also big with the Park Avenue set, giving it a mass appeal. There are ten different models to choose from in the Cadillac series, including its much-famed SUV, the Escalade.
Cadillacs come in three different versions – the four-door sedan- CTS (C-Series Touring Sedan), STS (Seville Touring Sedan), and Cadillac DTS (DeVille Touring Sedan).
The CTS helped launch the Cadillac brand’s popularity among the younger generations throughout the 90’s and the early part of the twenty-first century. It is the smallest of the Cadillac models, but boasts a very powerful 3.6 liter V-6 engine. In fact the 2008 model has been tested at 258 horses and 252 lf-ft of torque! First revealed at the North American International Auto Show in January 2007, the 2008 CTS will be available by the end of the fall.
Optional features will also include swiveling headlights, along with Bose premium audio, remote start, and iPod integration. The STS has a 3.6 L High Feature LY7 V6 engine, with 255 hp. It also comes as a 4.6 L Northstar LH2 V8, and with 320 hp. The remote ignition is standard, while the 300-Watt Bose stereo system with MP3 is optional. The DTS goes still higher in defining luxury and has safety features like eight airbags, and Xenon high power headlamps; it has superior luxury features like leather seating, and power seats – both of which are standard.
Optional features include navigation system, MRC (magnetic ride control), for a smoother ride, as well as a moon roof, chrome wheels, heated/cooled seats and a heated steering wheel. All these features are bound to make the mundane business of driving pure pleasure.
The famous Cadillac Escalade is a full size SUV, which competes directly with Ford’s Lincoln Navigator, which was released in 1998. The Escalade features an all-aluminum 6.2 L Vortec V8 with Variable Valve Timing, and produces 403 hp of power and 417 lb of torque. It comes with rear wheel drive, as well as an all-wheel drive. While the ESV is a stretch version of the standard Escalade, with more room at the back, the EXT is a pickup truck and features a “Convert-a-Cab” composite pickup bed.
The EXT, along with the CTS, was featured in The Matrix Reloaded chase scene, which helped boost sales for the company and cement it’s standing among the Hollywood elite.
The SRX is a mid-sized crossover utility vehicle, featuring five, as well as six speed automatic transmission. The V8 has a 4.6 L 320 hp engine, and has heated front seats and wood interior trim as standard features. Available options include DVD, sunroof, navigation system, and a foldable third-row seat.
For those who have a need for speed, Cadillac offers the XLR, which is a 2-door coupé convertible. It can accelerate to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds, and hit 100 mph in just 11.3 seconds. Reaching upward of $100,000 with upgrades, this is the most expensive car from the GM stable.
Whether you’re every move is followed by a pack of paparazzi or you are just another “Joe quality-vehicle-lover”, Cadillac proves there is no need to go over the pond for the finer things in life.
