(Image Credits: Gear Patrol) So scientists have found out how some species were able to survive a mass extinction. The scientists analysed fossils from 252 million years ago, which went through a mass extinction wiping out almost 96% of life in the oceans and 70% of animals on land. Dr Ashley Dineen said she was interested in seeing how these species that survived were able to live through this mass extinction and found out that those with greater mobility, higher metabolism and different eating methods have survived better than those that did not possess these traits.
